Solution Focused Treatment
The SSPS team employs evidence based assessment and proactive treatment approaches to ensure each child and their families are provided with the most effective tools and training methods.
Our clinicians work closely with families and outside providers to train and support individuals at home and in the community.
Solution Focused Treatment includes the implementation of caregiver goals, positive behavior support plans, and functional communication strategies.
Solution Focused Treatment can be provided for a number of intervention targets or can be tailored to one particular area of difficulty
Our Process
Assessment
Interview with families to identify current skills, strengths, and challenging behaviors
Direct observation and play-based assessment employed with child and family
Comprehensive review of child’s records
Result will be used to development an individualized plan to support each child to acquire and maintain greater independence
Clinicians may work on a broad range of skills or may address a particular area of concern such as toilet training or development of leisure skills
Positive Behavior Support Plan Development
Each plan is tailored to enhance functional communication and help individuals to adopt emotional regulation strategies during moments of frustration
Caregiver goals and values are integral to each plan
Whenever possible, intrinsic sources of reinforcement are imbedded within activities and situations in order to enhance motivation for participation and practice of important skills
Caregiver Training
SSPS clinicians work closely with families to provide opportunities for caregivers to learn new skills and to gain greater confidence
Training may include role-play, direct observation with opportunities for reflection and growth, and weekly meetings to review progress
Training in the child’s home, community, and other settings will be provided to promote generalization of skills across settings
